Why a licensed speech-language pathologist?
'Communication coach' is not a regulated title, so anyone can use it. A certified speech-language pathologist holds a graduate degree and the Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP) from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA), with more than 1,260 hours of supervised clinical practice and a passing score on the Praxis examination. The Praxis examination is the national speech-language pathology exam that every CCC-SLP candidate must pass. That training covers how breath and tension shape your voice, how anxiety changes the way your brain finds words under pressure, how habits form and change, and how unspoken social rules shape how a message lands. Sydney Parriott holds the CCC-SLP and an M.A. in speech-language pathology, and she pairs that clinical background with an MBA, so the work fits real workplaces. Can I get one-on-one executive presence coaching?
Speak Like a Professional offers one-on-one executive presence coaching led by Sydney Parriott, MA, CCC-SLP, MBA, a licensed speech-language pathologist in Kansas City who coaches leaders nationwide over video. Each series follows The Resonant Communication Method™ and trains the voice, composure, message structure and nonverbal signals that senior audiences read as authority.
Sessions run 60 minutes over video, once a week or every other week, and most clients complete 7 to 10 sessions. Coaching starts with the $175 evaluation, which records your baseline; packages start at $135 per hour. Your speaking is re-tested against that baseline halfway through coaching and again at the end.

How many coaching sessions will I need?

The average coaching series is 7 to 10 sessions of 60 minutes each. Packages come in 5, 10, 15 and 20 sessions, and the per-session rate drops as the package grows. After the series, clients can stay on for tune-ups and lingering challenges.
What does a coaching session look like?

Each session is a 60-minute, one-on-one video meeting with a licensed speech-language pathologist, held once a week or every other week. The work follows your goals across four areas: frame of mind, cultural considerations, delivery (speech rate, tone, body language and breath support) and content and messaging.
Will my employer pay for coaching?

Employers can pay for communication coaching as part of professional development, and many do. The coaching reimbursement tips on this site show how to request it. List the $175 evaluation and your package, which starts at $135 per hour, in the request.
How is my progress measured?
Progress is measured against the baseline recorded at your $175 evaluation. Your speaking is re-tested against that baseline halfway through coaching and again at the end. The case study on this page shows two of the measures: speech rate in words per minute and sentence length.

What is the difference between the evaluation and the discovery call?

The discovery call is free: you tell us what you are working toward, and we talk through which package fits. The evaluation is a paid 60-minute session ($175) that gathers data on your speaking, records your baseline and builds your coaching plan.
